We got to the airport and for our checkin with WestJet we were so over our limit for bags and the amazing thing too is we were overweight with our baggage. Usually you have to pay for a 2nd bag per passenger, and for overweight bags, but the lady we checked in with waived the fees for both of our 2nd bags and the overweight fee. That was an answer to prayer.
You know about sherpa's that help mountaineers travel and carry extra baggage in the Himalayas, well, I felt like the sherpa for Pastor Carin's luggage...She had 3 Suitcases, 1 Carry-on Bag, 2 Laptops, 1 Bass Guitar, 1 pillow and a purse, in her defence there was a lot for the safehome, but all laced with Pastor Carin's things (love you P.Carin)... Leaving the college, she was carrying her laptop, pillow and purse... Guess who had the rest? Yep, me and nick... I had 1 duffelbag and a carry-on bag... So much for travelling light...It's an memory I can keep forever
The flights were comfortable and the layovers were short, so thanks for your prayers there. I slept only a few hours, so getting into Thailand that was now Saturday 1am I was a little tired, but still functioning. We had to wait a little bit for our ride and when I got to my accommodation I ended being stuck outside, my Thai couple I stay with everytime I go there were sleeping... so, the polite person I am hated the idea of waking them up, so I enjoyed about 4 hours of bug bites, facebook, cockroaches and fending away ladyboys... (ladyboys are what they sound like, guys that dress and live like women, even looking a lot like women)... 3am 4am, 5am, 6am came and went... by the time 6:30 came around, I finally got in the house... and thats where I stayed, slept alot... No jetleg yet...
The Saturday evening was good, the Bible College, and TV programme "continuum" had an "Oscar" night, where people had done a bunch of really low scale short films (really good, and funny), and everyone dressed up. It was great to catch up with old friends, and meet the new students. Pray for the students at the School. There are students from Myanmar, Pakistan, Malaysia, over 9 countries in all. When you think about what they have given up to be there, it's a huge sacrifice and even the culture change, all having to speak in English, it's a huge step of faith, believe for their finances.... We will be travelling to Cambodia on Wednesday morning, so thats Tuesday afternoon for you... From there we will need to find an awesome missionary home/office as soon as we can, get all our things back from storage... Praying for you...
The picture posted is of a student from the Bible College, from Pakistan... Always remember, Love God, Love People... No matter what culture or race, we are all the same, it reminds me of a song by DC Talk... If your looking to serve God on the mission field around the world, go to VBCI Thailand, people from all over the world, Loving God and Loving People together... Beautiful people!
