I am well and very happy with where things are going for our work here in Cambodia. We have officially moved and got our first location for office, and possible home for girls in the near future. I am beginning to learn more about the business of dealing with projects and planning; dealing with communication and keeping focused.
It's been 6 months now in Cambodia and 2 months for me and Carin, we have since moved to Siem Reap, and coming to the place of starting to find staff for our work here with children. We are waiting on some documentation and business to get finalized, which is close now to being dealt with. I had the enjoyment of being able to travel up and down the country this last 7 days, driving a truck, riding a bike and taking a bus, up and down from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap. I rode a 223cc motorbike for 6 hours, and apart from my terrible attire (being shorts, t-shirt, sandals), with exception to my helmet, it was one of the best moments of my life, what a beautiful country Cambodia is and riding a bike through the heart of it is well worth the time, the pain (numb bum) and the danger. The danger of the ride was high, but God protected me, and it won't be something I do a lot, due to the risk of traveling here in Cambodia... No hospitals or ambulances for miles and miles...
I have also subject to a mugging since my last post. It was by a drunk guy, but he still could have had a knife or something. I got away with a poked eye, a scrunched up shirt and 1,000 riels less(25cents). It was a little scary, the guy was my height, and well built, but his drunkenness was to my advantage. Though it's danger, I am more than confident of my stay here in Cambodia, God has a plan and no matter the attacks against me, I will not be moved, and seriously if that is the worst attack coming to me, then wow, not a good one. So, pray for me, and my safety still, God is powerful and can overcome anything, I can do the same...
So like I have said we are in our official city and very close to starting to find staff, it's a couple of months until I arrive back in Canada. We will have commitments to raising funds, to support the children, and their recovery from the issues that come from sex exploitation, trafficking and abuse. Rescuing these children is the passion of our hearts, and proving for them a place to be children safe from these types of atrocities is what we very soon will be beginning to encounter. Pray and think about and of ways you would like to help, the opportunity for us is open and it takes those with a heart of compassion and love to be moved for these abused children will be so close to very soon.
